Marine Safety
Keeping Our Marine Operations Safe
At EMAS Marine, Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) is part of our core values. We believe there are no boundaries when it comes to ensuring safe marine operations and we strive to achieve a ‘Zero Incident Target’. To this end, we created a Safety and Environment Management Manual (SEMM), a certified set of guidelines and best practices against which the company provides services to our clients. SEMM is an active framework gathered through our operations and learning from around the globe. It is a comprehensive approach encompassing techniques and practices to ensure safety at sea, prevent injury, damage to property, pollution, protect the environment and to avoid breach of security. SEMM complies with International Safety Management (ISM) Code ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Standards and all regional specifications in overseas markets.
EMAS works to create and engender a positive, proactive safety culture. SEMM is administered not only by our HSES specialists such as Fleet Safety Mangers but we apply it horizontally and vertically throughout the entire organization. On board officers such as the Master, Chief Officer, Chief Engineer and Second Engineer are tasked with day-to-day safety and professionalism and work directly with sea staff to actively plan, discuss and implement safety improvements. We share information internally and externally through meetings, experiences, incident reports, inquiries into potential incidents and externally through interactions with our clients and industry leaders.
